Do you want to get your new friend from a puppy or dog adoption Shelter?
Puppy or dog adoption shelters are a great source to adopt a new dog, but often puppies are rarely available. Dog shelters are a place where dogs get a second chance. The dog may have ended up there because their owners abandoned them or because they have been lost and no one ever claimed them. If you have ever owned a puppy, it’s hard to believe that people could surrender their animal to a shelter but there can be many reasons why someone may do this…
Owners may be unable to provide basic veterinary care or adequate food anymore due to financial restrictions. Owners may have passed away or need to live in a nursing home and no one close to them is able to take on ownership of their beloved pet.Sometimes people relocate and are unable to take the pet with them especially in the case of rental properties.Sadly some owners no longer have time for the pet.
Animal adoption shelters are often filled with aggressive, domineering, and hard to train dogs, but some adorable well loved pets unfortunately end up in these shelters. The risk for all dogs in the shelters is that if no one adopts them, they may have to be put to sleep.
Euthanasia is a reality for many of these dogs so it is worth considering if an older dog is right for you. There are many dogs’ out there that have been neglected or abused and just need gentle discipline, training and a loving home and the care you may be able to provide.
