Can the Kong Biscuit Ball keep your pup entertained?
What exactly is the Kong Biscuit Ball?
If you have been having trouble keeping your
active pooch occupied, you might just be in luck.
The Kong Biscuit Ball is a hard rubber hollow ball.
That doesn’t sound too exciting however there is bone shaped holes on the sides that allow you to
put treats inside.
This means if you have a pup who gets bored of regular chew toys pretty easily, you are most likely
to get their attention with one of these. Granted
you will need to put the right type of treat inside to
get your dog ’s attention.
What benefit does a Kong Biscuit Ball have for your dog?
If you think about it, you will find that the Biscuit Ball has benefits for both you and your loving pooch. The Biscuit ball should keep your dog occupied from 10 minutes to a number of hours depending on what you decide to put in it. Your pup will have fun trying to get the treats out of the ball whilst chasing after it and moving it around with their paws.
The benefit you get from this cool toy is a little bit of a break from your pup or the entertainment of watching them figure it out. Obviously sometimes we all get a bit busy and have urgent matters to attend and sometimes our active pups don’t quite understand. Putting a couple of treats in the Biscuit Ball can allow your dog to play whilst you get the time to do urgent tasks. Please note that this toy doesn’t mean you never need to play with your puppy because you can load up the ball and leave them alone forever. Apart from the fact that with enough treats your dog will become a bit on the heavy and extra cuddly side, they do still crave and need your interaction.
What are the different ways to use the Kong Biscuit Ball with your dog?
Due to its hard rubber nature, the appeal of this toy is that it can double as a food toy and a fetching toy. The most obvious thing for you to do with the biscuit ball is to put food in the holes and give it to your pup. The hard part is finding out what the best treats for you to use are and you may need to help your dog understand there is food inside. To begin with you might want to use treats that have a stronger smell to them to help your pup realize that you are putting them inside the ball. Treats we have found quite good are liver treats, regular dog biscuits, peanut butter.
If you need to help your pooch understand the toy, give them a couple of the treats whilst letting them see you put the rest inside the ball. If they don’t start playing with it immediately, move the Biscuit
Ball around a bit until a treat falls out and show your pup.
This is probably the ideal time to mention not
putting treats in that are too big for the holes. Your dog will go crazy trying to get them out and this usually leads to stronger dogs destroying the ball.
The other way to use the Kong Biscuit Ball is as a fetching ball. You may not want to put a treat in there whilst using it for fetch as you may not get the ball back until the treats are gone and that will put an end to the game! Only use it for fetch if your dog already is the fetching type. Some dogs just really don’t enjoy fetching so try not to push the issue.
What sort of dog does the Kong Biscuit Ball suit?
The question really shouldn’t be what sort of dog the ball suits as much as it should be, what healthy treat does your dog most enjoy? Pretty much all dogs will get enjoyment out of the Biscuit Ball as long as you put a treat they like inside and they understand how it works. Some dogs are particularly fussy eaters but you will most likely know what your gorgeous pooch jumps through hoops for!
What are the negative points to the Kong Biscuit Ball?
Although the ball is hard rubber, unfortunately it’s not indestructible. Therefore if you have a strong jawed pup, it may not be long before they decide destroying it is the best way to get the food. A way to reduce this is by making sure the treats inside are not bigger than the holes. You may also want to know that any piece of rubber larger than the size of a food nugget can harm your pup if swallowed. Therefore it is best to take away the Kong Biscuit Ball should your dog be able to tear through it.
The other downfall is if your pooch enjoys barking at their food. This could be quite irritating for you as your dog will bark for as long as there is treats inside the ball. If your dog already barks at their dog bowl, it is likely that this toy may not be ideal. The upside with this toy is that you can clean it in the dishwasher should it become too dirty.
What is the general cost of the Kong Biscuit Ball and where you can find it?
Depending on where you want to shop, you can find the large size for roughly $10 US Dollars on the net. It may be more expensive for countries outside the USA. Ebay is likely the cheapest way to find one however if you don’t like the idea of shopping on Ebay there are plenty of online stores that are reputable. The other alternative is hunting through your local pet store for one.
