What benefits from having
a dog do you want?

benefits from owning a dog like this

Puppies have been around for hundreds of years and the benefits from having a dog were often for a specific purpose. It may have been for herding sheep, hunting, guarding, health assistance, pulling sleds, search and rescuing or just as a loyal friend.

Dogs have so many abilities that aid in many activities. These days the most common use for your dog is a loving family pet but taking your potential new family member’s original use for breeding into account can help in finding the right one for you.

Obviously if the benefits from having a dog are for one of these specific purposes, then your decision is going to be pretty easy.To herd your sheep then the Australian Kelpie is the friend for you, if your home needs security, then a Rottweiler or Dobermann is probably best.

If you live in an Igloo and need your sled pulled to the local shops, then the Alaskan Malamute or Siberian Husky is right for you.

If you’re undecided on the breed, you need to ask yourself the following…

Are you energetic and a fitness guru? Do you want a friend that can keep up with you? If that is the case you may want to find a working dog such as a Border Collie, Australian Kelpie or Siberian Husky. These puppies will definitely give you a run for your money. The benefits from having a dog as a fitness partner are great, not only will your puppy keep you motivated to exercise more but you'll enjoy it more too.

agility dog sports These breeds enjoy keeping busy, love to run and play and can do so for hours on end. If you are keen to spend a lot of time with your new pooch, these dogs love activities such as agility courses or FlyBall. These activities are most likely available at your local obedience club.

If the idea of running just hurts to think about or you just like the idea of a lap dog to snuggle up with on cold nights, the good news is that a lot of breeds are keen to do this. There are even big friends to suit you!

The benefits from having a dog are many but one of our favorites would be having a pooch to snuggle up with at the end of the day. Most dogs will sleep around 14 hours a day and are more than happy sleep next to you on the sofa.

Obviously some breeds are more likely to do so, if you have a small fluffy such as the Maltese, Shih Tzu, Bichon Frise, Pomeranian or Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, they will most likely join you on the couch.

Whichever friend you choose will need exercise, so even though these breeds may like to lounge around with you, it is still important to take them out for a play. Most would love to accompany you to the local mall on a casual stroll. There are breeds that require less exercise than others. These include Bulldogs, Chihuahuas, Pekingese, Pugs and many others.

There are also breeds specifically trained for assisting people with disabilities, for example the Labrador Retrievers are commonly used to help guide the blind. These dogs have been trained from a very early age and show the amazing benefits from having a dog. If this is the puppy you need for a family member or friend then it is best to contact an agency in your local area that can point you in the right direction.

If you have a young family or perhaps grandkids that visit then it may be a good idea to go for a breed that is more laid back and docile. Many of the larger breeds such as the Mastiff do have these qualities but there sheer size can be an issue amongst youngsters.

Boxers, Beagles, English Setters, Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers and Pugs are all commonly great with children as well as many other breeds. If you select one of these breeds your puppy is likely to love playing with the kids and giving them attention creating yet more benefits from having a dog.

Once again this is only a general rule, children should always be taught to be cautious and young ones should be supervised at all times.

cute puppy If you’re just keen to have a dog that loves to have a play then you’re in luck. There are not many breeds that don’t love to play with their owners, in fact most puppies just love and crave your attention.

You have so many to choose from, everything from a Chihuahua to a Beagle to a Staffordshire Bull Terrier will suit, it’s just a case of making sure you can provide them with the quality care they deserve.

The benefits from having a dog are unlimited, in our opinion the best being their ability to help relax people and put a smile on their face , you just need to choose the best ones for you.
