Why shouldn’t you get your new puppy from Backyard Breeders?
If you don’t already know, Backyard Breeders is the term given to people who commonly tend to breed a dog with inexperience. They usually breed either for fun, profit or their family pet accidentally gets pregnant and they are trying to sell off the puppies. You will find these breeders are usually uneducated people who have not spent much time researching how to breed puppies. Unfortunately you will also find that they haven’t properly researched the particular breed of dog that they are breeding with. The difference between poor breeders and a good dog breeder is huge. That is why it is important for you to understand the difference so you can make an informed decision on where to get your next puppy from. Some of the following are consistent issues with Backyard Breeders… They have little knowledge of the risks involved with breeding and caring for the puppies optimally. They make a quick decision that breeding their family dog will be fun and usually mate their bitch (female dog) with any dog of the same breed. No consideration is taken in regards to genetic problems or the need for pedigree bloodlines.
These breeders usually have little knowledge of their dog’s breed history, including what it is prone to medically. These breeders don’t tend to screen the pups future owners. This indicates that they have very little care for where they end up and are just breeding for profits. They don’t have the necessary bedding, equipment etc…to care for the animals that will ensure their health.
The pups are not tested for breed specific issues such as hip dysplasia.
As with puppy mills, these uneducated breeders tend to exist for the wrong reasons. Finding good breeders to buy your next pup from will pay off in the future. The right care and nutrition for a puppy in the earliest stages will ensure you have a well tempered and healthy pup. All puppies deserve this form of nurturing and love which is not found through such inexperienced and irresponsible breeders.
